During winter when the trees are bare, the lives of birds are more exposed. Swans, robins, blackbirds, dunnocks, finches and tits, flitty and twitchy. Birds are seriously challenging subjects but wonderful company. And there there are these rare moments of total stillness.......

There comes a day when it's time to hitch up the wagon and take to the road again. Meandering down dusty tracks, feeling the heat of the southern summer, wandering through the leafy northern autumn. There's nothing like a change of scene....Always finding the stillness.

It's my daily view and it's impossible to resist the changing light through the seasons. It's a small volcanic lake about 90 feet deep at its centre. Surrounded by trees, a forest and some pasture, it is home to wildfowl, herons, swans, hares and badgers.
